Had a 35 point Game last night,

First game in a while,

I faced Cygnar, and didnt really think about what to use.

I brought pKreuger + Bloodtrackers a Stalker and a bunch of other things to round out the 35 points. After I deployed I realized that pKreuger may not be the best guy to bring since I remembered that a bunch of Cygnar stuff is immune to electricity.

It worked out though because his caster wasn't immune,  and I was able to get a few control point and pull off a turn 4 assassination with chain lightning

I never used Kreuger's feat which could have been helpful, I need to get better at choosing when to feat as I finish a lot of my games without doing it.

It was a fun game, thanks Marty,

35 Points

So my two latest games have been against Retribution and Cryx

I won both by assassination, which I have come to find, is my main game plan: Make the other guy commit to the scenario and then go for an assassination. I don't forget about scenario, but I just haven't been able to build list with enough staying power to win by scenario.

Circle needing to win by scenario isn't the reason for this post though, this post is about points.

I have been playing a lot of 50 point games lately, and I have been having a really hard time. Too many choices.. too many units.. too much time per turn/activation.. etc.

My last two games were 35 points and I find it really refreshing. I was better able to prioritize my actions and target the right units. In short I just don't think I am experienced enough to play well at 50 points.

It was a good lesson to learn early, I rushed in to playing at the 50 point level, and I don't think I built a strong enough foundation.

Those of you who are new to warmahordes would be wise to stick to the 35 point level until you are confident you can make good clean decisions before moving to 50 points.

Just my opinion as always :)

Painting requirements at tourneys,

I am a bit old school when it comes to painting, I started playing 40k back when you needed "3 colours and based" as a minimum to field an army in a tournament.

I have been a bit dismayed by the level of painting in warmahordes events. I have faced entire armies of un painted models and in many cases there is at least one unpainted model.

I feel as though it would be easy for all tournaments to require at the very least that all models be primed  prior to being fielded in an army. Spray them brown, or black, or grey or green, or whatever you want but at least spray them. It is easy to prime models, and if models were primed it would be that much easier for people to paint their models.. :)

but as I said, I'm a bit old school, I would never field a model in a tourney that was not at least primed, and my goal is always to have a fully painted list in any tournament in any game system I play.

So I encountered eDenegra..

I brought my eKaya list to the fight, I feel like I had pretty solid plan, and for turns 1 and 2 it went well,

I killed a lot of Cryx infantry and was making pretty good headway, then eDene comes up.. hellmouths one of her own guys to pull my stalker forward into range of her Nightmare that has my stalker as its prey. (on a side note - it seems Nightmare does not cause terror, which i think is pretty silly) A dead stalker resulted, and then all I had left was a long shot assassination attempt that failed.

Oh, I forgot to mention, eDene feated making it so my entire army was stuck in place, she scored 4 points, and i had no choice but to try for the assignation or loose at the end of my turn,

That was a pretty tough game, eDene has a pretty rough feat to deal with, but I think as circle, with all my placing abilities, I should have been able to get around it a little better had I seen it coming. Honestly I think circle is potentially better prepared to handle this feat than most armies.

I will be better prepared for next time,

good learning experience.. looking forward to a rematch :)

Jakub,as always thanks for the game,

Butcher3

So I had a game against Butcher3, I ran eKaya,

My stalker managed to box a Khador heavy jack in one turn with Forced Evo and warping Strength,

that was mostly the only circle highlight though..

Doomreavers are stupid good, especially against circle, they just sit at the front of an army forcing you to deal with them, yet can be targeted by spells.. I will have to do some research on how to take car of this..

Butcher3 is also very good, I felt at first that his "suck you to your death" spell was a little OP, but the more I think about it I think it is just something you have to make sure you keep mind all the time.

On the point of Butcher, using a shifting stone I put a feral right in front of him, a feral with no fury managed to do 4 points of damage to him.. butcher was camping a lot of focus so there was just too much armour for the feral to handle,

points to take away for the game:

Forced Evo is awesome, I should have cycled it from the stalker to the feral.. i'll remember that for next time.

eKaya does not seem to have a lot to do with her fury, her spells seem pretty lackluster, I need to think harder about when to activate her and how to use her spell list to its full potential

As always thanks for reading :)

Loks I am running of late.

So I am really feeling eKreuger, pKreuger, eKaya, eKaya, and Mohsar.

eKreuger is quite offensive (ROF 3 lighting can be exactly what is needed, to take those last few boxes of your opponents caster) and his feat is awesome for scenario, also his feat takes away the ability to charge you in the following turn which can be a much needed reprieve for circle.

pKreuger is hands-down incredible against units, especially high def low armour units. Problem is most of the strength he is putting out is only 10, which really hurts against higher armour. His feat can be perfect for removing a unit or two at the perfect time, or even blocking charges lanes. I find I tend to rely a little to much on this trick though.

eKaya is brand new to me but her feat is incredible, and more then that, forced evolution on a stalker is one of the best options I have come up with for dealing with high armour.

pKaya was my lok, I almost feel like it is a cruel trick for the circle starter box to come with pKaya. She has very little offensive punch, but she really buffs the living warbeasts that she brings to the fight, I have found that +2Mat means I am less likely to boost to hit, and that means more fury for extra attacks or boosted damage. Her feat lets here have access to a tone of fury and that gives her a lot of potential for a roun where you need to get a lot done. I like pKaya but I feel like in a faction that has a very steep learning curve (circle), she may be a caster with one of the steep learning curves. I want to get better with her but I don't see myself taking her to a tournament any time soon.

Lastly Mohsar, he is an interesting cat all round. His giant control zone and interesting spell list make him a real threat. his ability to reduce a units armour by 2 is another ne of the few ways to help circle deal wit high armour models. His feat however is mostly useless against warmachine opponents, other then shutting down arc nodes. Against Hordes though, here he shines, it basically shuts your opponent down for a turn especially if they are running a lot of warbeasts.

As always this is just my opinion (limited experience and all), and I welcome any suggestions or comments :)

First encounter with trolls

Had my first game against trolls, the blood type..

That was a bit of an experience, I ran eKaya (first time running her too..) with druids some heavies and Skinwalkers,

The skinwalkers did really well against his runeshapers, he ran Doomshaper1 with 4 units of runeshapers. He also had Mulg and a few other big guys, whom I mostly ran away from, although my shadowhorn did try un successfully to throw one of them into another one.

so in short, super high armour, it was tough for me to handle. I reallized though that I did not use eKaya's feat when I should have, and that I need to take more advantage of my mobility to surround him, you can't run a brick of circle against a brick of trolls.. they are the better brick.. by far

revelation: Skinwalkers with UA are awesome!!

a few pics from the game courtesy of my opponent Jakub - Thanks!
